How long will it take to get our site online?

Websites can vary greatly in complexity, functionality and purpose. They can be a value added extra to a business or they can be the essense of the business. The time to create them is a reflection of this focus.

It usually takes about 1-2 weeks for a small site with up to 5 pages.

For larger sites with interactivity, rich graphic content, flash animation, original photography or advanced scripting it can take 3 weeks or more.

A large e-commerce or database driven site will usually take 4 weeks or more.

Hosting and domain name registration only take a few days.

Web design & development tip

Original photography

There's something to be said for avoiding the obvious stock photo libraries.

They often have a definite style that we've all seen a million times before. Using them can make your site seem less personal

Try to avoid the really obvious "bloke in a suit" shot taken from slightly above and maybe think about taking your own. It's more fun, more unique and adds a personal touch.
